I will implement an Outreach & Collaboration Program with residents and community leaders throughout Fort Bend County. The Outreach & Collaboration Program will include building a robust Police Athletic League focused on improved communication and relations with the youth in Fort Bend.

I will utilize more grant funding for communication equipment and technology which will help the department overcome language barriers between law enforcement, the community, and victims.

I will aggressively approach the need for an effective method to address Mental Health Awareness within Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office by executing calls for psychological stability services, commitment, and support to the community.

I will conduct performance measurement and research on the betterment of the Fort Bend County Correctional Facility.

IMMEDIATE CHANGES OF POLICY

THE FIRST 90 DAYS IN OFFICE

In a genuine effort to raise morale - within the first 90 days of my administration, I will order the following changes of policy – to take effect immediately: 


  • Authorization of facial hair and tattoos according to a reasonable standard.
  • Implementation of a Deputy, Supervisor, and Civilian of the Year Recognition Award Program.
  • Supervisory/Patrol Personnel residing within the County shall have take-home vehicles.
  • Personnel assigned to specialized/critical essential units shall have take-home vehicles.
  • Review of current/future protocols utilized to assign personnel to the Jail Division. 
  • Creation and development of future compensatory incentive programs and initiatives.
  • Increase the number of assigned proactive patrol personnel to ensure county-wide visibility.
  • Organize and empower a “Board” of both sworn/unsworn personnel to (a) address comprehensively the current and future policies and procedures of the Sheriff’s Office and (b) submit recommended departmental uniform options that have garner departmental-wide personnel consensus.
